How To Get Benefits
To join the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, eligible citizens can apply online through the official portal: https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
Once the application is submitted, the electricity distribution company and an authorized vendor will conduct a site inspection. Following approval, solar panels will be installed on the applicant’s rooftop. After installation and verification, the subsidy amount will be directly transferred to the consumer’s bank account.
Earlier, under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, the Central Government provided up to 60% subsidy to domestic consumers for installing rooftop solar panels. Now, with the Chhattisgarh Government contributing its own share, consumers can benefit from a double subsidy.
If a household produces more solar electricity than it consumes, the excess power can be sold to the state’s DISCOMs (distribution companies) through the power grid. Consumers will earn income from this surplus electricity, helping them recover their initial investment and even generate a sustainable source of additional income.
